| HU-LINC (Houston Urban Learning in a
Networked Community) develops and supports Mentors to assist elementary
teachers who are participating in the HU-LINC Elementary Science Lead
Teacher program.. See Mentor Duties for more information. The application process contains THREE (3) SECTIONS: |

The renewal process :
late August Mentor Application Deadline August-September Applicant Interviews September Announcement of Mentor Selections As Needed One-day technology training and issuance of laptop (to be scheduled) Summer Mentor Summer Training Institute at University of Houston* Sept. - May Six Saturday morning HU-LINC training sessions (training dates to be available by May), Optional activities (after-school, Saturdays, or inservice) will be offered as available.
| *Teachers will receive $250 stipend for full attendance, plus
materials valued at $250 for their school. Participants may also qualify for 3 hrs free graduate credit in CUIN from University of Houston. |
| NOTE: Continuation in the mentor
program is voluntary, with acknowledgment by mentor's school principal. HU-LINC is
limited to a maximum of sixty (60) mentors with full implementation. During the
current school year, there will be approximately 250 Elementary School Science Lead
Teachers active and in need of support from the mentor group. Therefore, a mentor
who has committed to serve in this capacity will be expected to participate fully as shown
above to remain in the program. For
